Student Spotlight: Sterling M.
A recent graduate of our school, Sterling is now attending Georgetown University. While she was here, she took many advanced courses and was very involved in community service. Sterling’s hard work has clearly paid off. Sterling had a busy and demanding schedule at Texas Connections Academy at Houston.
Outside of school, she taught dance and aerobics classes and volunteered at the senior citizens center for Meal a Day, a non-profit that cooks, packages, and delivers hot meals to homebound seniors. According to Sterling, “This school’s flexibility allowed me to participate in those services.
“Texas Connections Academy at Houston greatly impacted my education and improved opportunities for my future, which I wouldn’t have had at my local high school. The online environment gave me access to higher-level honors courses, AP®* classes, and dual credit, which I took advantage of. I was able to apply to top-tier colleges with a very competitive application.”
At Georgetown University, Sterling is studying public policy and government. Reports Sterling, “The structure of Texas Connections Academy at Houston is very similar to that of college and university classes, so I feel prepared to tackle this new change and further impact my future.”
