MADISON'S STORY
When Your Dreams Don’t Follow a Set Schedule
In elementary school, Madison was homeschooled and took co-op Montessori classes. When it came time to enter middle and high school, she and her family were concerned about how this would affect her schedule.
As an overachiever, the rigid schedule of a traditional high school curriculum would no doubt make it difficult to attend extracurricular activities and other obligations that were important to this bright and promising student. But with the goal of attaining a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, Madison’s grades took top priority. She needed a school that not only offered a strong science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum but dual-credit enrollment at the university of her choice.
That’s when Madison and her family decided that Connections Academy’s virtual school program was just what they were looking for.
Time to Succeed
Understanding Madison’s needs, the teachers and staff at Connections Academy® not only helped her family through the university dual-enrollment process, but also worked closely with Madison to ensure her class schedule fit her goals and passions.
With the ability to complete assignments during non-traditional school hours, Madison has been able to fulfill her obligations as a community outreach provider, tutor, and founder and team captain of RoboChicks, an award-winning, all-girl high school robotics team.

“Madison’s robotics schedule is demanding. Having the ability to complete assignments during nontraditional school hours has given her the ability to show up to speaking engagements and out-of-state award ceremonies.”
